HAYATI RUBIK
I can't help but compare this one to the very similar product, IVG Smart 5500. I also compared it to its brother, the Hayati Pro Max +, which was released at the same time by Hayati.

The Review
At first glance, my British patriotism is tickled with the flag on the refill pod. At first you might think it was designed in Britain, but no, it's a Hayati designed product through and through. Depending on which country you find this vape, it will have a different flag - for example the American version has the US Flag instead of the British one.
Upon first taking it out of the box, I was initially surprised by the weight - it is noticeably heavier than most vapes on the market. Weight is sometimes an indicator of quality, and in this case it does feel to be very well made. It appears most of the weight is in the bottom half of the device, and isn't well balanced once the refill pod gets almost empty.
Assembling the vape is fairly easy, however I did note that once you open the refill pod, you must hold it with the openings at the top (I fitted them into the device with the holes at the bottom, leading me to think it was leaking at first). Once properly assembled the 'leak' seemingly vanished, so I am going to admit the 'leak' was most likely caused by myself.
it advertises a pre-filled 2ml internal tank. However, like most refill bottle vapes, it did siphon about 1ml out of the refill bottle before I'd even used it. So the internal tank does appear to be pre-filled, but only with 1ml.
On first use I was taken aback by how seemingly perfect the inhale is. It seemed to perfectly match my normal inhale, and was smooth and easy to draw through. Attempting to do a couple of 'power draws' (where I try and inhale as fast and hard as I can), the Rubik managed to keep up with only a very slight restriction. Trying a light draw (inhaling slowly and weakly), I found the first flaw - unless you draw with at least a semi-reasonable inhale, the device doesn't even register that it is being used.
Using the MTL method, I actually found the hit to be quite satisfying. The vapour was thick and flavourful leading to a very nice draw. I did find it probably isn't best suited for DTL, and is much less satisfying on the inhale, although it can be used for DTL if that's how you prefer to vape.
On to the flavour. Banana Ice is one of my top personal favourites and is usually one of the first flavours I go for when buying a new device. I found the flavour very full bodied and sweet, and found no drop off in the flavour over the life of the product until the refill bottle was almost empty - there was still about 1/2ml left in the bottle when the very slight taste of a burnt coil started to creep through. As I got through to the bottle being empty the burnt coil taste intensified, which leaves me wondering about the internal 2ml tank - if the bottle still has some fluid in it, surely that must mean there is 2ml still in the internal tank? This is something I will investigate during the teardown.
One other note about the flavour - it's supposed to be banana ice. The banana flavour was there, but the ice part was seemingly lacking. Doing some research, I have found that the ice ingredient is WS-8, which is one of the weaker ice ingredients. I feel if they had used WS-23, the ice part of the flavour would have packed much more of a punch. (If your not sure what WS-23 is, you can check out my *very old* WS-23 explained video here).
Lets talk about battery life. The Rubik advertises it uses a pure cobalt battery, which is better for delivering higher wattage to the coil for a better vaping experience. There is a trade off, however - it doesn't seem to last as long as a regular lithium-ion battery found in other vapes. Charging time from flat is approximately 1 hour 15 minutes to fully charged, and this delivers roughly 1000 puffs from fully charged to flat depending on usage. The display on the Rubik shows the battery percentage, but the display seemingly only goes up to 99%. Even when fully charged, I've never seen it display 100%. This could be due to the fact as soon as it hits 100%, the display turns off, and when you first use it it shows an animation instead of battery percentage, showing 99% after the inhale.
Now let's talk about how long the vape lasts - how many puffs I was able to get out of it. The vape claims a puff count of 7000+, by my count I only got around 4000 before the burnt coil taste started coming through. I managed to get to approximately 5000 before the fluid was gone and I was only hitting burnt coil. So whilst it isn't the worst device in terms of puff count, it still falls well below the advertised figure.
My Teardown of this vape is pending, so this review will be updated once the Teardown is complete.
